Phase 1
This was supposed to be my entry for the Darksiders: End of Days contest but I did not make the deadline. Still, I'm working on this illustration until it's complete!
I imagined the horsemen of the Apocalypse as Centaurs. Centaurs are horse-men, get it?
I did not get the chance to scan the rough sketch because I was in such a rush!
As you can see, the figures are already drawn with defined lines. |
Phase 2
I was not happy with the previous arrangement of the figures, so I rearranged & traced them onto 2 sheets of paper.
Now, this piece shall be a twin-panel. I decided to separate the figures, else, the right-most centaur would look oversized compared to the left-most centaur. |
Phase 3
Outlined the centaurs in ink, adding their weapons, in the process.
Cumulus clouds in the back have also been added. I plan to create the same cloud-effect I used in Mary & Angel Gabriel. |
Phase 4
I'll work on the panels by section. This method is time-efficient when working on like figures.
Shaded-in the all centaurs' upper extremities. |
Phase 5
Shaded-in centaurs' manes; Shaded-in blacks on their ornaments. |
Phase 6
Shaded-in centaurs' lower extremities. |
Phase 7
Shaded-in centaurs' jewelry, ornaments & weapons. |
Phase 8
Blocked-in the background; outlined important features of the figures with white ink. |
Phase 9
Blocked-in contours of clouds. |
